Šternberský Palace

If you have time in Prague and haven't been to other museums thst have the old masters, this one is worth visiting. Thr palaces in which the paintings are housed are beautiful too. The collection isn't large but can take a leisurely two hours.

We went to the Sternberg Palace/Prague National Gallery to check out their awesome collection of European art, from the classics to the Baroque period. We got the combo masters I & II tickets, which were 300 kc each. The lobby was super spacious and modern, and we loved the design of the building's outside and the courtyard. The Master I Gallery had three floors, and there were tons of beautiful sculptures and old masters from famous artists like Rembrandt, Rubens, El Greco, and Van Dyck. Master II is in a different building across from the Palace, like a five-minute walk away. Unfortunately, we had a rather unpleasant experience as we encountered a very rude staff member in room 16 who completely ruined our visit.

More masterworks than Schwarzenburg Palace and incredible interior rooms and ceilings. Helpful and passionate staff as well. Great museum!

Ruben’s portrait of Spinola is a true masterpiece that reminds me a lot of Velasquez’s portrait of pope Innocent X (Doria Pamphilj) because you feel as if you were standing in front of a real person watching you with their inquisitive eyes. There is also a beautiful garden behind the palace - entrance is right next to the cafe.

That is, you need to buy tickets to two museums, one of which does not have an elevator. The number of visitors was comparable to the number of workers. The elderly caretakers are very sociable and try to attract the attention of visitors to the painting.

The museum is located near Prague Castle. It's a bit difficult to get there. On the other hand, the museum staff is very friendly and welcoming. There is a cafe in the courtyard of the palace where the museum is located. The museum has mostly biblical paintings. The museum is not very big, about 1-2 hours is enough.

The exhibition Old Masters 2 is really interesting and contains some masterpieces from known holland and german painters. Really worth visiting

Elegant palace, full of interesting works of art. Some pieces are really worth seeing.
