We visited the License 1 speakeasy and loved the darker, intimate vibe. Drinks were good and the Underground Comedy Club, Comic Cents made for a very fun and entertaining evening. Great line-up of comics and tons of laughs. Highly recommend!

It’s an old place with good dance music. The person(s) who run the place aren’t aware at all of what goes on inside the corners & different rooms unless someone reports to the bouncer. Not a good plan. Thurs band is phenomenal but other ones are not. Drinks are too expensive but I don’t drink so it doesn’t matter to me personally. Food is ok but not anything to brag about compared to other phenomenal downtown happy hour places.

Let me preface my review with the fact that I have frequented this bar since it was called the Catacombs and have always enjoyed it until last night. We had an office Christmas party that migrated to this bar afterwards. The bouncer proceeded to not let in one of our coworkers because “his sweater was too festive”. I kid you not. We decided we would just have 1 drink and leave because they denied service to our coworker. In the 15 minutes it took to try to get drinks ordered the overzealous bartender came from behind the bar and kicked out our Hispanic coworker for touching an orange that was on the bar. It was abundantly clear that this action was targeted because of our coworkers ethnicity. One of our coworkers husbands who is an Assistant District Attorney spoke up about this and was subsequently kicked out as well. It’s very evident that the staff is openly discriminatory and wields the paltry power that they have been given to harass local individuals who aren’t white. It is precisely this type of behavior that gives Boulder the perceived sense of pretentiousness and discrimination that has enveloped our fine city. I can only hope that the establishment’s management reaches out to me as we have all of this shameful spectacle on video which clearly shows the racist intent of these overly aggressive bouncers and bartenders. If you choose to spend your money there then just be warned this is the type of behavior you are condoning.

Loved the Truffle Fries and Crispy Brussels Sprouts and Cauliflower tonight at License No. 1. Came for the comedy show that starts soon but wow! Such a cool place to explore! Drinks are good and staff is super friendly . Definitely a great place to go out.

Went twice for cocktails and snacks. The bartender was great and ready to mix off menu cocktails. Stayed for a comedy show and live music. Really a fun venue with lots to offer for drinks and food.

This was a very cool experience for a friends birthday get together. They did not have any chartreuse which I was very disappointed about. But the drinks were still relatively unique with good options. The food was not amazing to be honest, calamari was a bit saltier than I’d like but was gluten free which is somewhat rare. The burger itself tasted pretty good but the gluten free bun which is tough to get right was quickly falling apart. I love the setup of the rooms and we had a great time playing pool - you do need some cash for change to make quarters - it’s 4 quarters for each pool game.

We recently visited License No. 1 and had a frustrating experience with the bouncers. Our group was enjoying the night until we tried to bring in a friend who was wearing a ‘festive Christmas sweater.’ The bouncers told him his sweater was ‘too much’ and refused him entry, which seemed unreasonable. When our sober friend politely asked why, he was kicked out without warning. It was shocking to see such poor treatment over something so trivial. While the bar itself is nice, this kind of behavior from the staff really ruined our night. We won’t be coming back anytime soon.

They have great food and drinks! you have to go up to the bar to order either. Food can take quite a while to show up, but it is worth it cuz it is delicious. Bartenders are always super helpful if you don't know what you want. There are so many fun and cozy nooks that you can hang out in. if you are around dinner time there's usually seats. if you go later in the night then it can be pretty packed and it will be more standing room
